Internal communications needed more than another announcement
The situation. At a professional association serving the nuclear power industry, communicating complex technical information was part of everyday work. Internally, the challenge was to make information accessible, encourage employee engagement, and create ways for people to connect beyond traditional announcements.
What I did. I supported internal communications for an organization of approximately 400 employees, developing content and expanding the ways information was shared. I introduced blogs, discussion boards, videos, and electronic newsletters to support employee communications and engagement. I also translated highly technical material, including nuclear plant evaluations, event analyses, and training documents, into communications appropriate for different audiences.
A different approach. Internal communications shouldn't be limited to distributing information. The channels should also help employees understand what's happening, find what they need, and participate in organizational conversations. I brought that thinking into the development of new communications formats and employee engagement initiatives.
